Maridadi is a specialist loc studio on Stanbank House, Moi avenue 3rd Floor, Nairobi CBD, Nairobi — starting, maintaining, repairing and styling locs, for first-timers and for people ten years in.

Starting them, keeping them, repairing them and dressing them. Every price here is a band, not a teaser — what you pay depends on your length and your loc size, and you will hear the number before anyone picks up a comb.
Root Retwist
Roots tidied every 4–6 weeks, without tension at the hairline.

03Styles we install
Locs are not one look.
What separates them is upkeep, not price. Pick the maintenance you will genuinely keep to and the look follows — it almost never works the other way round.
Traditional Locs
Medium
Classic / Grounded
The default, and for good reason. Palm-rolled, forgiving, suits most densities.
Microlocs
High
Fine / Versatile
A fine grid, tightened with a tool. Takes colour and precision cuts beautifully.
Freeform
Low
Organic / Untamed
Washed, separated, and otherwise left alone. Your hair decides the shape.
Sculpted Updo
Medium
Elevated / Architectural
Mature locs sculpted and pinned, for a wedding, a shoot, or a week off.
Sisterlocks, instant locs, barrel twists, braided locs and colour — each with what it asks of you and who it suits.
04The work
What comes out of that chair.
Fourteen looks the studio installs and maintains, across 12 styles — from a first grid of starter coils to ten years of patience.
Traditional Locs
Traditional locs, six months in — the budding phase behind them.
Microlocs
Microlocs at rest. Two hundred and forty, and almost no weight.
Barrel Twists
Barrel twists, wound to catch light along the ridge.
Sculpted Updo
A sculpted updo, weight spread across the whole head.
Freeform
Freeform, four years unshaped. Nobody could repeat this.
Braided Locs
Braided channels across the crown, holding a full week.
Coloured Locs
Copper through the ends, kept warm rather than bright.
Starter Locs
Starter coils on a fresh grid — day one of a long project.
Sisterlocks Style
The finest grid we install, uniform from every angle.
Two-Strand Twists
Two-strand twists. An hour in the chair, a week of wave.
Instant Locs
Instant locs, crocheted closed the same afternoon.
Semi-Freeform
Semi-freeform: organic body, roots still deliberately parted.
Traditional Locs
Ten years of patience, and no retwist tighter than it needed.
Microlocs
Microlocs pinned up — the versatility the count buys you.
Photographs of client work
The pieces above are drawn live in 3D from the same style definitions we work from in the studio — they are illustrations, not photographs of clients, and we would rather say so than let you assume otherwise. Real client work, posted with permission and dated, goes to Instagram.
The reviews worth reading are the specific ones. These say which style the person wears, what we talked them out of, and how long they have been sitting in the chair.

Across Google and Instagram. The handful that are not five stars are mostly about waiting time on busy Saturdays, which is fair, and which is why we now book fewer clients per day.

My edges finally recovered. The first thing they did was tell me to stop retwisting every two weeks and come every six instead. Eight months on there is new growth at the temples I had written off.

She talked me out of retwisting too tight before my sister’s wedding and did a softer set instead. She was right, and she said it kindly.

Two locs had thinned to nothing at the root and one had snapped off. I assumed I would have to cut. They rebuilt all three and you cannot find them now.

Two full days for the microlocs install, and nobody rushed. The parting is so even that someone asks me who did it every week. Worth every shilling.

I wash fortnightly, so I did not think my locs were dirty. Then the detox water ran cloudy for ten minutes. They are lighter now, and they stopped smelling odd as they dry.

They took my son on as a nervous eight-year-old and kept it to an hour. He now asks when we are going back.

Trimmed for length, never for meaning. If you would rather read them in full and where they were written, the studio is on Google and Instagram under the same name.

Come and sit down
Tell us what your hair is doing now and what you want it doing in a year. We will tell you what it costs, how long it takes, and whether today is the right time to start.

A standard root retwist. Every figure on this site is a “from” price, confirmed with you in the chair before we start work — never after. Maintenance is a morning; a first full head is most of a day.
A KSh 1,000 M-PESA deposit holds the slot, comes straight off your final bill, and moves with you if you reschedule with 24 hours notice.
Not ready to commit to anything? The 15-minute consultation is free, and you can have it in the studio or by sending photos on WhatsApp. Plenty of people have that conversation and decide to wait three months. That is a good outcome, and we will say so.
